Last Sunday morning, I did a TED talk!
Well, sort of. In effect. The closest I’ll ever come to doing one.
Here is how it begins:
“What I am going to share with you today is the basis of a course I teach at the University of Cincinnati’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute titled OLLI titled ”How Music Means.”
“I invite all of you to enroll. You would get a lot out of it. Today, you’ll have a tiny peek into the world of “How Music Means.”
“That is also the name of a book I’m writing which I hope to publish next year: “How Music Means.”
“I think we’d all agree that music means something. But how exactly does it do that? and why do we respond to music so emotionally? … ”
Non-Christian friends, be apprised: my talk was part of our worship service at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian. Don’t worry, there is no proselytizing. It’s almost entirely about music.
